About Me
I am inspired by the idea of recording history as it happens in the moment. That is what I came into the SOJC to do and that is what I want as the foundation of my professional career. I want to invoke change in what I report simply through sharing the stories of those who so often go overlooked, and revealing the cracks of injustice that so many turn a blind eye to. My ultimate professional goal is to contribute to the change that will support and uplift disenfranchised communities. Elevating the voices of others will always be my first and last priority.
Work Experience
Staff Writer at The Mustang
2017 - 2018
I wrote for the news, feature, opinion and satire sections for my high school newspaper. I served as Feature Editor for the Introductory Journalism yearly newspaper. I pitched various story ideas for monthly issues of the paper and collaborated with fellow writers to print various monthly issues of the paper.
Secretary of Women’s Rights Club 2015 - 2016
I co-founded the Women’s Rights Club for my high school with two other students, and acted as secretary. I recorded notes from meetings, promoted the club to students in semi-annual club fairs, and collaborated with founding members of the club to work out our mission as a campus organization, including club activities, discussions, after-school activities, etc.
Social Media Promoter for ASB
2015
As a student government, ASB was responsible for various aspects campus and student life. As the social media promoter, I
uploaded advertisements and announcements for school dances, assemblies, and other on-campus events. I also served on a planning committee for the Spring Assembly to coordinate activities, speakers, announcement videos, etc.

I am currently a third year majoring in Journalism with a minor in Political Science. I am also taking a second language course in intermediate Spanish.
